ARRIVAL TO THE CENTER
Must be accompanied by an adult to sign the consent for surgery.
POSTOPERATIVE MANAGEMENT AND TRANSPORT
Must be accompanied if possible by a relative during and after your procedure.
Do not take aspirin, derivatives, ibuprofen, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba four weeks prior to your procedure because this promotes bleeding. If you are taking any medications should inform the doctor. You can take acetaminophen.
Night before surgery
Eat something soft the night before the procedure.
Do not eat or drink anything after 10:00 pm, even water.
Do not take any medicine unless it is prescribed by your doctor.
Take a shower the night before the procedure.
Call the doctor before admission if you present: fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or extreme pain.
Remove the enamel of your nails (hands and feet).
The morning of surgery
Do not eat or drink anything
Brush your teeth but do not swallow water
You can apply a soft makeup if desired but not mascara, shadow, eyeliner or false eyelashes.
You are allowed to take, on the morning of the procedure, your blood pressure medications (if required) and/or anesthesia pills with a zip of water.
Wear casual and loose clothes.
Leave all jewelry and values at home.
You must make full payment before entering the operating room.
Before leaving the hospital you will be given verbal and written instructions of all postoperative care.
Plan to be off work for 15-21 days, especially if your work involves heavy lifting or activity.
